UK-EU 'deal' - BA's early analysis

After the 1246-page UK-EU trade agreement was agreed on Christmas Eve, on the 28th December the BA provided initial analysis for members, including details of the Rules of Origin which goods must meet for zero tarff movements. Aerospace tariffs - BA welcomes UK announcement

The BA welcomes today's announcement that the UK will suspend retaliatory tariffs in the Boeing-Airbus dispute, which had involved UK importers paying an additional 25% duty on USA-originating cycle frames, forks and parts thereof. Several BA members were (through no fault of their own) impacted by these tariffs and will welcome the news that these will not be retained by the UK after 1st Jan 2021. https://www.gov.uk/government/news/uk-announces-new-approach-on-us-tariffs
Lockdown reassurance

Ahead of expected further lockdowns the BA has been lobbying the Governments in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland to ensure that the value and essential nature of bike shops is again recognised and that they can remain open under future measures. We were pleased that the Minister of State for Transport responded promptly and today stated "I agree that cycle shops provide an essential service and, as in the first lockdown period, I will do my utmost to ensure that they can stay open in the advent of any future lockdown."
